Stories from the Studio: Mel from ‘Yazzbar’ Yass
We met up with Mel from “Yazzbar” where STA recently installed the ‘Paint The Town Legacy’ exhibition which is on display until Saturday 30th May.
Experience a vibrant showcase of local creativity in the heart of the Yass Valley at Yazzbar in Yass. The ‘Paint The Town Legacy Exhibition’ brings together original canvases from artists involved in the Southern Tablelands Arts PAINT THE TOWN Street Art program. These works capture the colour, energy and character of the STA region’s celebrated murals, offering visitors a unique opportunity to engage with them in an intimate indoor setting, surrounded by art displayed across the venue’s walls.
Located at 81–85 Comur Street in Yass, Yazzbar is a cosy country wine bar dedicated to championing local talent through its rotating exhibition program. Open Thursday to Saturday, it’s not only a place to view inspiring artwork but also a lively hub for live music, featuring regular performances by talented local musicians that create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Guests can enjoy regional wines and tapas made from locally sourced produce while soaking up the creative vibe—whether relaxing in the sunny courtyard or beside the fireplace. Yazzbar is a true community space where art, music and connection come together, making it an ideal destination to experience local culture at its best.
