NSW EMERGING INCUBATOR THEATRE FELLOWSHIP SHORTLIST ANNOUNCED

Five talented artists have been shortlisted for the Incubator NSW Theatre (Emerging) Fellowship offered in partnership with Create NSW and Griffin Theatre Company.

Happy Feraren, Tait de Lorenzo, Charlotte Salusinszky, Eliza Jean Scott and Dalara Williams will receive professional mentorship from Griffin Theatre Company as they work on the creative development of new works, with one successful Fellow to be selected to receive $30,000 from Create NSW for a self-directed program of professional development.

Minister for the Arts Don Harwin said the Fellowship, now in its second year, provides an important career pathway for NSW theatre practitioners in the early stages of their career.

“The Incubator NSW Theatre (Emerging) Fellowship offers a valuable opportunity to nurture the careers and skills of the successful Fellows and will provide them with a fast-track learning curve as they develop their capabilities in the theatre,” Mr Harwin said.

“Griffin Theatre Company has long been a vital incubator for talent and for the development of artists, creativity, ambition and education in NSW, and I know our shortlisted Fellows will quickly gain new skills and experience for the stage.”

Griffin Theatre Company Artistic Director and CEO, Declan Greene, said the Griffin Theatre is excited to help grow the Fellowship experience and further the works of the shortlisted candidates.

“Our pilot year of Incubator in 2020 yielded an incredible range of accomplished projects from the shortlisted candidates. The collective vision and talent across this year’s shortlist is equally formidable, and the team at Griffin are excited to work with them to foster and develop their projects,” Mr Greene said.

The shortlisted applicants will explore their project with input and support from Griffin to challenge and expand their practice. At the completion of the three months, the Fellowship recipient will be selected from the shortlist to undertake a self-directed program of professional development.
