Stories from the Studio: Melanie Knowles
This week we visit Melanie, a passionate alpaca farmer and felter from Gunning, NSW. Melanie is the creative mind behind Bbohe, a unique shop specializing in handmade felt slippers and hats and she’s bringing a few of these delightful creations to Connect@Gunning Station for the Fibre to Fabric Interactive Exhibition. Melanie lovingly tends to her 70 alpacas, growing the very fleece she uses in her work. What’s more, she’s all about sustainability, often experimenting with eco-dyeing techniques and recycled fibers, giving each piece its own unique touch. Melanie founded Bbohe in 2010, Bbohe offers a stylish and functional solution to cold feet and bodies, blending warmth and comfort seamlessly. Explore Bbohe’s alpaca felt artistry at bbohe.com and discover the perfect fusion of style and comfort for yourself. Follow Melanie on instagram @Bybbohe

Curated by Creative Gunning, the Fibre to Fabric Interactive Exhibition offers a unique interactive experience. Attendees can witness firsthand the journey from fiber to fabric, engaging in activities like preparing fiber, exploring spinning techniques, and discovering various methods of fabric and cord making. Be sure to swing by the Parcels Room, where specially selected handmade items by local craftspeople, including Melanie’s snug Alpaca slippers, will be available for sale. It’s the perfect opportunity to support local talent while indulging in a bit of retail therapy. Come join us this Sunday to support local artisans like Melanie Knowles and immerse yourself in the fascinating world of fiber arts at Connect@Gunning Station. FIND OUT MORE!
