Festive Season Commission
Every year STA help spread the creative joy with our Festive Season Commission. Wherever you are and however you celebrate it’s a wonderful time of year across the STA Region. We wish all our Creatives and Communities all the best for a fab summer and the new year.
Rose, Erin, Daniela and the STA Board
The STA Festive Season Commission is a professional commission to a local Artist for use of an image to illustrate our end of year messages. It’s just another way STA support local creatives and share their work with the world.
Murun by Aryssa McAlister is our STA Festive Season Commision for 2023
T’is the season to get creative and STA are featuring this glorious work to share joy and creativity.

Whilst painting it I thought about life. Murun is the word for Life in the Wiradjuri language, so this digital art piece is called Murun. It basically tells a story and takes you on a journey through life’s obstacles, all the groups and friendships you surround yourself with as you go through your life’s journey!
Aryssa is a First Nations Artist to watch based in Goulburn Mulwaree.
‘Travelling arts’ by Jess Plumb is our STA Festive Season Commision for 2022
My work represents the travelling arts from a First Nations perspective. The Southern Tablelands Arts logo colours have been incorporated alongside others, to reflect the different areas that southern tablelands art covers and to show their support and collaboration with local artists…
The work was also used to create the deadly STA car wrap. Watch the full story and see the fab merch.
Journeys and Networks by Jodie Munday is our inaurgual STA Festive Season Commision for 2021
The work shows man, woman and child in the centre as individuals within a family unit. The green journey lines then branch out from the centre joining each larger circle around it. The flower’/leave circles with metallic background represent medicine both traditional and modern and the role they play in supporting a holistic approach to our physical, mental and emotional wellbeing and health. The smaller repeated circles represent our mob, immediate family, extended family, Elders and Ancestors, the tracks going around the outside are our individual journeys. These tracks have road blocks, they represent cross roads and challenges we face in life and times where we need to stop, regather our thoughts, regroup ourselves and with the support, guidance and teachings from mob we rebuild and continue on life’s journey.
The large pink circles are our support networks be they mates, school friends, sports teams, mentors, doctors, clinical teams, therapist’s teachers, Elders etc within our communities that work together to support us to grow and become the people that we are. The white dots behind the work illustrates our ancestors watching over us and guiding us and also a safety of all these elements combined to catch us when we fall and help build us up again.
It doesn’t matter what your family looks like or what your support network looks like, everyone family and supports are different, but they are all there to guide us, teach us and help us grow into the best people we can be.
