Stories From the Studio: Erin Williams

Erin has been a cornerstone of the Lieder Theatre Company for over three decades, bringing depth, versatility, and unwavering dedication to the stage and beyond. Since her first appearance with the company in The Lesson in 1993, Erin has built an extraordinary body of work, performing in a wide range of productions that showcase her remarkable range as an actor.

Her extensive list of credits includes standout productions such as Monochrome, which toured internationally to Florida in the USA and Goleniów in Poland. The 13 Storey Treehouse, Charlotte’s Web, The Three Musketeers, Periphery, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Masquerade, Garungatch and Mirringan, A Streetcar Named Desire, Australia Day, Moon Over Buffalo, Much Ado About Nothing, Twelfth Night, The Laramie Project, Rabbit Hole, Wolf Lullaby, Stepping Out, Cloudstreet, and The Colour Play, which toured to Monaco, Spain, and the USA.

Her contributions also extend to touring productions such as The Ballad of Mary Ann Brownlow, and On The Bridgeand G’Day Mate, which travelled to the Czech Republic and England. Beyond her work on stage, Erin has played a vital role in sustaining and shaping the Lieder Theatre Company. She has served for many years as a member of the Board of Management and Secretary, and continues to contribute as both a production manager and stage manager. Professionally, she is the Manager of Goulburn Mulwaree Library and a founding partner and program manager of Mighty Playwrights, a multi-award-winning initiative that nurtures young local writers and performers.

Now, Erin brings her wealth of experience and emotional depth to one of the most challenging roles of her career, portraying Lindy Chamberlain-Creighton in the Lieder Theatre Company’s latest production of Letters to Lindy. Running from 12–20 June at the Lieder Theatre in Goulburn, this powerful work by acclaimed Australian playwright Alana Valentine explores the Azaria Chamberlain case through real letters, interviews, and court transcripts. At the centre of this ambitious and deeply human production is Erin Williams as Lindy, delivering a compelling and nuanced performance that anchors the play. Surrounded by a chorus of voices, brought to life by Director Blake Selmes, Pauline Mullen, Steven Routley, Renee Beukers, and Tyler Ferguson. Erin’s portrayal offers a striking and deeply moving insight into a story shaped by public opinion, compassion, and judgement. Under the direction of Blake Selmes, Letters to Lindy becomes not only a reflection on a pivotal moment in Australian history, but a testament to Erins’ enduring artistry and presence on the Lieder Theatre stage.
