Devon V Leggo: Stories from the Studio

Devon is currently working as the Artist in Residence at Retford Park in Bowral, where he is creating drawings and text inspired by the mansion and grounds for an illustrated horror novel ‘DELICT’.  Devon’s work is concerned with the pain and intimate horror of being authentically oneself. DELICT explores internalised homophobia, hypochondria, suicide and self harm, and the fear of allowing oneself to be seen, fully and completely, by another person.

I’ve found a place in the Belvedere at the top of the Mansion, from here I can look down into the garden. It’s a secret place that is prefect to draw and think about the next elements of the book.

I’m looking forward to showing some of the work I’ve created here and reading from DELICT on May Day and then launching straight into the creative workshop for young people. Both will be held in the pool pavilion at the property. It’s a rare chance for people to explore this area of Retford Park.
