Stories from the Studio: Bill Dorman

This week we caught up with Goulburn based maker/ artist, retired teacher and collector of things Bill Dorman. Bill’s studio is filled with the most eclectic mix of rusty treasures, He works in metal, wood, and whatever other material and junk that comes his way!

Bill has been hard at work in his studio getting ready for his current exhibition at Gallery on Track.  Steeling Away is a whimsical exploration of metal, heat and hammers and is on show from October 1 to 29.  Bill uses over five decades of artistic practice to create a distinctive and offbeat world, where walking boats and islands with long legs are filled with fungi figures. Dorman invites you to join his characterful creations of sculpture and jewelleryas they ‘steel’ away.

‘Steeling Away’ runs from Oct 1 -29 at Gallery on Track, with the official opening at  2 pm on 7 October.  You can find out more about Bill at his website www.billdorman.com.au
