Stories from the Studio: Ann Carr-Boyd

This week we caught up with Southern Highlands based composer Ann Carr Boyd. Ann is an internationally recognised composer whose music is truly Australian. Ann has been involved in music and its many manifestations all her life. Born in 1938 into a family of professional musicians, she studied piano and violin from an early age.

Ann is a proud patron of the Southern Highlands Symphony Orchestra (SHSO).  The SHSO was formed in 2014 as a result of overwelming interest in establishing a symphony orchestra in the region. The SHSO has become a significant feature of the cultural life of the Southern Highlands!

Ann sponsors the SHSO Composer Competition for an original orchestral work. First prize will be awarded $3000, and the winning composition will be performed at the SHSO Consert Series in September 2023. Entries close 30th of June, so get composing! ENTER HERE
