Stories from the Studio: Amber Kenny

This week STA caught up with Southern Highlands artist Amber Kenny! Amber was the Highland FM 100% home-grown Artist of the Month for July!!

Amber’s love of music began at Leura in the Blue Mountains before heading south to Robertson in the Highlands where she now lives on a farm with her family, horses and Maton guitar.

A late arrival on the music scene, Amber only picked up the guitar in 2014 to finally compose the songs that had been sitting inside her for many years. Her natural rawness and beauty creates a beguiling melody and honest lyricism illustrating a gift beyond her years of experience.

Her passion as a singer songwriter is born from hours of listening to Lauren Hill, Tina Harrod, Melissa Etheridge, Joni Mitchell and Patty Griffin all of whom she’s lovingly studied and experienced live many times.

A self-taught starter with the help of some special musician friends, Amber has now paired with Ben Fink to produce her first EP

You can hear  more of Amber  on BandCamp and at her website!
