This week we caught up with the Young Society of Artists (YSA), a dedicated and dynamic group of artists that support each other to improve and expand art opportunities in the Hilltops region.

Young Society of Artists Incorporated was established in 1982 to establish the Burrangong Gallery with the aim to plan & coordinate exhibitions, with or without guest artists. Burrangong Gallery has had many homes over the years and is now housed in our local Hilltops Visitor Centre

The Young Society of Artists organise 9 exhibitions annually in Burrangong Gallery to support artists in developing their art practice. Guest artists are invited to put together a body of work while members are encouraged to enter new works into the gallery every 6 weeks.

Young Society of Artists Inc. organise promote & support the Hilltops Annual Cherry Festival with an annual competitive art exhibition. The members also run annual Open Sculpture and  Wood & Big Art exhibitions in March to align with the Young Lambing Flat Chinese Festival. This year due to the COVID19 lock down the 2020 Sculpture Wood & Big Art Exhibition was shut down on opening night. It was a wonderful exhibition hanging behind closed doors.  This exhibition can now be viewed on the Young Society of Artists Inc Facebook page. Take a look & see the amazing works by some very talented artists. All catalogued with artists names & prices.

As a part of the Society’s arts program the group also plan & coordinate art workshops for adults & youth. The Art Room is open each Monday of school term where artists can get together to work on their own projects. Fun days are also conducted in the art room on a regular basic where artists are invited to share their knowledge by demonstration a new techniques or art experience.

Where possible YSA support, other Arts & Cultural Groups in the Young Community with Sponsorship, sharing equipment or representation.    All in all YSA are a very busy group where artists can encourage each other and practice their art surround by like-minded people.
