This week Southern Tablelands Arts visited Berrima District Museum in Berrima to coincide with a visit from Anne-Louise Rentell from Create NSW.
During the visit John Schweers and Harlen Hall shared their favourite object in the Museums current display. The impressive Hurdy Gurdy rotating metal kitchen pantry, that would have been considered a luxury item in its day.
Lyn Hall’s favourite is a painted picnic basket made from an old kerosene tin. The tin was found inside a saddlers shed, complete with tools and equipment that had been locked up like a time capsule for decades.
Located in the delightful historic village of Berrima, Southern Highlands this exceptional museum brings to life the history of the district. The museum features an amazing digital gallery currently showing Rembrandt in HD.
The Berrima District Museum is perfect for all ages and is engaging a whole new audience of locals and visitors alike with its fascinating mix of state-of-the-art digital storytelling, breath-taking photography, historical treasures, and passionate volunteers who bring local stories to life.
The Berrima District Museum and Historical Society is open Wednesday – Sunday 10am – 4pm
