Stories from the Studio: Joanna Hughes

Joanna is a 19-year-old artist from Big Hill – just outside the small town of Marulan. Joanna primarily paints with oils and aspires to create art that represents life as we see it, depicting the beauty which we often disregard. This year Joanna is looking forward to studying Fine Arts and Secondary Education at UNSW, Sydney. Through this degree she will be given opportunities to further explore her love for art. Joanna, along with three other artists,  Hannah Williams, Jade Bull and Cara Ellison were commissioned to create artworks for the Palliative Care Rooms at Goulburn Base Hospital. Her paintings will be on display at Gallery on Track on the 2 – 3 February (Sat & Sun) from 10 – 4pm, prior to their installation at the Hospital. This project is generously funded by the Palliative Care and Oncology Support Group.
