Young NSW Art Trail
Why not head to Young for a weekend of art and follow the Young Art Trail on the 20-21 March 2021. the Art trail will highlight exhibitions and open studios in Young. Its a great option for a day trip.
The art trail was planned & organized by the Young Society of Artists Inc. To run along side the 13th Annual Lambing Flat Sculpture Wood & Big Art.
For the past 12 years this exhibition was a major event on the Lambing Flat Chinese Festival program but due to COVID 19 the festival was canceled for 2020 & 2021. It is hoped that by local artists opening their Gallery & Studios it will bring visitors to Young and the Hilltops region. Young & Hilltops have many attractions for visitors who can combine the art trail with self guided tours to the Chinese Trbute Gardens, Dam & Picnic Area that is rich in the history of the gold rush. The Sportmans walk of fame Marina Street & The Bridge mural at Lambing Flat Bridge near skatepark. The mural sites are Lambing Flat Bridge (Wombat & Marina st) and Sarah Musgrave Bridge [on Campbell St, near the museum] & are found along the Burrangong creek & Young town weir bridge to bridge walk.

Meet the Artists
1. The Young Society of Artists Inc (YSA) was formed in 1982. YSA is a non-profit organisation that strives to encourage public awareness and appreciation of fine art. A friendly group of artists who plan & organize many successful exhibitions and workshops from beginners to experienced artists. Exhibitions include the Annual Cherry Festival Competitive Art Exhibition and the Annual Lambing Flat Sculpture, Wood & Big Art Exhibition.
2. Brent Randall is a photographer from the beautiful Scenic Rim area of Southeast Queensland, now residing in Young. Brent enjoys shooting landscapes, sunrise and sunset. While travel and event photography is also of interest, Brent loves that you don’t have to go very far in the Hilltops Region to find amazing places to photograph. 3. Joy Cornish is a multi-disciplined community artworker and educator, Her gallery space showcases ther work of young, local/regional and emerging artists, Craft persons and writers. Joy conducts workshops in her studio space.
4. Artist Louise Adams is a Temora based artists’ who works in a variety of mediums. From wire sculptures to vibrant, abstract acrylic paintings. Hilltops Arts are very proud to present her work from her Art in Residence program in Studio One Works on display were created by students and Artist in Residence Louise Adams during a recent Artist In Residence program and associated workshops.
5. Victoria Anderson lives on her family’s old sheep farm just out of Young. Her work is inspired by the outdoors….farm animals, chooks cows and sheep. These works are nestled around large works of fruits and flowers. The landscape is another common theme explored in her art and in her workshops that she holds in her town studio Springfield Art. Her works are organic and fluid and rich in colour.
6. Young Till was a practicing artist in Korea before moving to Australia. When Young Till moved to the Hilltops Region with her husband Robert in 2014. Young Till joined the local Society of Artists, attending workshops, entering local exhibitions & teaching new art students of all ages Young Till is now able to practice her love for art in her new “Forever Young” Art Studio and Gallery 64 McMahons Road. {The Korean meaning for Young is “Forever”.}
7. Judy Barker’s sculpture garden and studio feature quirky sculptures made from found metal objects, Hebel and soapstone as well as artworks in acrylic, pastels, prints and mixed media.
Judy says “I find inspiration and subject matter anywhere and everywhere but
particularly in nature.“
8. Artist & Tutor Robyn Wheeler & Sculptor Trevor Payne have pulled together a display of works to showcase their own creative talents. Visitors can meet the artists who will be on hand to talk about their art practice.
Robyn Wheeler says “Painting can be lots of fun, that’s why I love to teach. Variety being the spice of life, no subject is taboo.
