This week STA caught up with Clare Jones from Flourish Music Therapy to talk about the Bridge to Sing Choir in Goulburn. The Choir has built a strong community and has now created a highly successful adaptation in response to the current social restrictions…

The Bridge to Sing choir is an initiative of the Goulburn Mulwaree Council and aims to support people to feel well and connected, and to share their love of music. The name of the choir reflects the nature of the choir – we see music as a bridge that brings together people of all ages, abilities and walks of life.

The choir began in May 2017 and since then has gone from strength to strength, building a repertoire of songs that is as diverse as its members. We asked members why the choir was important to them, and these are just some of the responses we received:

“It’s fun!”

I like learning.”

It feels good to be able to sing a whole song that we’ve practised.”

We get to know each other better.”

It brightens my day!”

My mind stops worrying.”

I feel happy!”

“We’ve got each other.”
