Stories from the Studio: Cara Ellison

Cara is a 21 year old visual artist living in Goulburn who loves to paint nature, and animals using acrylics and water colours. Cara, along with three other artists,  Hannah Williams, Jade Bull and Joanna Hughes were commissioned to create artworks for the Palliative Care Unit at Goulburn Base Hospital. Her work will be on dispaly at Gallery on Track on the 2 – 3 February (Sat & Sun), prior to their installation at the Hospital. This project is generously funded by the Palliative Care and Oncology Support Group.

“When my grandmother was sick, she would like to look at old photos and talk about happy memories. So my idea was to recreate a holiday memory. This painting would be completed in acrylic paints. I would like my artwork to create a feeling of peace. I would like the person viewing it to feel as if they are standing at this wooden railing and looking out through the trees to the ocean. To feel surrounded by nature, with the sound of water and birds in the trees, and not in hospital.”
