STA visited Ben Lyons at his Studio in Wollondilly. Ben has been making boxes and sculptural works under the name Ben’s Boxes for more than 20 years.  Each unique creation is worked to enhance the natural timbers that are the artist’s chosen material.  

I used to make furniture and renovate houses but have been making Ben’s Boxes since i retired more than 20 years ago. One of my favourite timbers is Camphor Laurel, which is a no native and often considered a weed, but it shapes well and makes a beautiful timber that works well.
