Patina Alchemy Workshop with regional Sculptor Al Phemister. Create patterns on metal! Have you ever noticed the different colours and texture on metal jewellery, sculptures and objects? All these colours & textures are known as patinas. Patinas can be brown, gold, green, black, blue, white, orange & grey! Patinas grow on the surface of metals and can take hundreds and even thousands of years to develop naturally. You can create a patina quickly by applying a coating onto metal using non-toxic recipes.
Sculpture Workshop
Sculpture is an artistic form of visual arts, and unlike painting which traditionally represents an illusion on a flat surface, sculpture as a three dimensional created object, inhabits the space and shared by the sculptor and viewer. Sculpture is also tactile, you can touch it and feel it! Our Sculptors at the Silo Art Fest will assist, guide and encourage the creative abilities sometimes unknown or hidden within a person to achieve your own unique sculpture. Who knows, deep within may be lurking a Michelangelo or a Rodin?
Paint Pour Workshop
This is a fluid painting method created by using acrylic paint poured on a surface to create a flowing design. So throw away your paintbrushes and mix up your colours and paint pour with your free flowing action and create brilliant new colourful designs. Come and learn how to do it, at the Silo Art Fest
Bush Ballads and Bush Bands
From the arrival of the First Fleet 1788 in Port Jackson Sydney, both the convicts and the sailors and officers brought with them their own ballads and songs. Gradually these became colonial songs and many songs came to reflect life in the bush. Also many musicians made their own musical instruments, these were unique colonial instruments, along with the traditional banjo and mouth organ. The silo artworks about to be painted on the reverse side of the Murrumburrah Silos, reflects early colonial musicians.
