Stories from the Studio: Warren Barnett

Every now and then a something super exciting happens (actually in the STA Region this does seem to happen a lot), and we are thrilled to share a milestone for Highland FM. This Saturday night 27 February Warren Barnett celebrates his 700th show with the station. Platters That Matter 7pm-10pm on the airwaves at Highland FM 104.7

Warren has produced and presented Platters That Matter since 2008 – and it’s a resounding success, with loyal listeners around worldwide.

Warren or Wazz as he is affectionately known is a local legend with over 30 years’ broadcasting experience in community radio and 55 years in the Australian record industry as a mastering engineer. He has worked with most of the greats of the Australian Music scene and international legends such as Bob Dylan.

Wazz started his career in the music industry in 1969 at EMI records. Over 54 years he has worked for Festival Records, Sony Music and Warner. He currently engineers the So Fresh Australian compilation album series. 

Highland FM now gets to benefit from Wazz’s extraordinary experience and expertise. He puts in countless hours making sure the quality and sound of Highland FM is top notch.

Wazz is one of the many critical professionals that produces the Highland FM 100% Home-Grown Artist of the Month. A program that STA have proudly been a partner in since it’s conception in 2021.
