Stories from the Studio: Ben Malone

Tonight we have a Special Sunday Sounds Stories from the Studio with 23 year old singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Ben Malone. Ben started learning guitar as a child, playing in school bands and at his local church. Now he is a popular performer in the Southern Highlands featuring regularly at venues throughout the region. He is a member Ross Webb and the Rusted Track and Eklypse with local musician Angus Murray.

Ben has toured nationally with singer, songwriter Hollie Col, as drummer and backing vocalist. He has performed with Pete Murray, Icehouse, Winterbourne, 19-Twenty, and Kodaline (UK) and at a recent festival which featured The Rubens, Spiderbait, Middle Kids and Skeggs!

Ben says that his songwriting is inspired by his lived experience. “For me it always comes from the guitar. I’m either sat down at home or at work or sometimes at a gig. I’ll be playing the guitar and come up with an idea ! From there I then try to attach words, melody and meaning… My words are inspired my lived experience, that is: I take inspiration from relationships, work, events and I ability to put that down on paper. That’s pretty much it… in a nutshell”

Ben is the Highland fm 100% Home-grown Artist of the month for October. You can see Ben LIVE on November 26 for the 100% Home-Grown Concert at Bowral Bowling Club TIX HERE
