Stories from the Studio: Rosa Daniela Diaz
It’s a pleasure to share a special Stories from the Studio feature direct from beautiful Picton with Rosa Daniela Diaz. No stranger to STA our former admin officer has gone from strength to strength in her creative arts practise having completed her Master of Contemporary Art Practice (textiles) from the Australian National University and being awarded a Veolia Creative Arts Scholarship to support her with an international residency at the Vermont Studio Centre in the United States which she recently completed.
Rosa Daniela Diaz is multi-disciplinary artist living in the Wollondilly Shire. Her practice involves working with, found and repurposed textile materials and mixed media to create woven sculptural forms and installation. Daniela’s art celebrates women, ancient textile methodologies and craft. “I explore body, memory, matrilineal ancestry, and my Uruguayan cultural heritage, rooted in feminist care ethics, reparative practices and transformational processes,” she explained.
STA are thrilled to be offering a free creative workshop with Rosa in January.
Rosa can highly recommend an Artist in Residence program as a rich way to develop as an artist.
The STA Artist in Residence program is just one way STA to provide opportunities for artists. The STA AiR page details the opportunity and includes links to residency opportunities across Australia and internationally.
Rosa holds a Master of Contemporary Art Practice (textiles) from the, Australian National University in Canberra 2023, a Master of Art (painting) from, UNSW Art & Design, 2016, and a Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Visual arts from Wollongong West TAFE, 2013 – 2014
