Stories from the Studio: Peter Campbell

It was a  delightful spring afternoon when STA visited Southern Highlands singer songwriter Peter Campbell. Known to many as an accomplished designer and visual artist Peter has returned to his first love of music. Reigniting an international musical legacy that begun with his first album, Of Time and its Distance, recorded in Brisbane in 1975

Peter is a storyteller in the great tradition of folk music, his deeply evocative lyrics explore social, political and environmental issues alongside the bitter-sweet matters of the human heart.

STA are exciting to have Peter as the musician in residence for the upcoming Arty Market at Bowral Art Gallery on Sunday 9 November. Peter will be playing live across the day and over Highland FM who are broadcasting live from the market.

Peter is also reprising his place as the Highland FM 100% Artist of the Month for November.

‘Burden of Hope’ is Peter’s latest offering. A raw and emotional powerhouse of an album. We warmly invite you to be at the lAustralian Launch of Burden of Hope as part of the Bundanoon Folk Festival
Produced and engineered by Australian music legend Brendan Gallagher, Burden of Hope was released in Australia and the USA (see NEWS item about the FAI Charts) in June 2025 but only just being officially launched locally on September 13 after releasing two singles. With global turmoil on the rise, the task of remaining hopeful is urgent and seriously hard work and this collection speaks to the heart of our times without flinching. These songs weave through the landscape of our shared humanity, keeping unerring focus on love and compassion. GET TIX
