Stories from the Studio: Pam Kensit
Stories From The Studio: Acclaimed artist and author Pam Kensit is a creative force whose inspiration is driven by the human form in conjunction with the organic composition of the natural world, this week STA caught up with Pam to talk about all things art.
Working primarily in acrylic painting and organic sculpture, Pams’s art is inspired by the quest to understand the intricate composition of nature, its structures, patterns, and quiet intelligence. Her paintings pulse colours and texture, capturing the fragile balance that binds life together.
Beyond her work in the studio, Pam is a published author of six books, ranging from historical non-fiction to poetry. Her literary works explore themes of resilience, connection, and the enduring relationship between people and place. Titles such as Poems Outside the Fold reveal her lyrical eye for detail, while her celebrated non fiction Dust to Mud delves into the remarkable story of a small bush community’s contribution to World War I. Whether painting or writing, Pams’s work invites reflection on how nature and humanity are deeply intertwined.
This November, Pam will be among the many artists featured in the Upper Lachlan Arts, Culture & Heritage Trail, an inspiring weekend that brings together artists, storytellers, and makers from across the shire. Presented by STA in partnership with Upper Lachlan Council, this first-ever trail offers visitors a chance to journey through Crookwell, Gunning, Collector, Bigga, Taralga, Tuena, and other hidden gems, each stop revealing a new creative story.
Visitors can explore studios, halls, and galleries, meet the artists behind the work, and experience the rich cultural traditions that define the region. From paintings and sculpture to photography and heritage displays, the Trail is a celebration of creativity, history, and community spirit.
The Upper Lachlan Arts, Culture & Heritage Trail takes place on the first weekend in November, a weekend not to be missed. Find out more about the Upper Lachlan Arts, Culture & Heritage Trail. Find out more
