PAINT THE TOWN Laneway Festival 

Join us for the free, family event, Paint The Town Laneway Festival 12 to 5pm, April 15 at Ward Lane, Mittagong, presented by Southern Tablelands Arts and Mental Bowral!

Paint the Town Laneway Festival will feature live music from local and regional artists with free creative workshops with the FUN‘daMENTAL Art space. Drop in anytime with FREE creative workshops every hour and badge make a badge, get weaving with our First Nation’s weavers, participate in a live mural, and hunker down on some delicious food from Lil’Piggy. Get in early for a chance to hear the amazing voice of Shard or hang for the local-legendary linguist Peter Campbell and headliner, superstar Jerikye Williams at 3pm! As the sun sets, the Mental Dj’s will keep you dancing until 5pm.

Make sure you head out and visit the mural site on the day, as most of our artists will be at their respective mural sites painting away! SEE the map below for mural locations.

FUN‘daMENTAL Art space @ the PAINT THE TOWN Laneway Festival –12pm-5pm Saturday 15th April

A creative space while you enjoy the PAINT THE TOWN Laneway Festival. Drop in anytime for FREE creative workshops every hour and badge making anytime. We’ll bring the artists, materials and tools – you bring you! Everyone welcome, children to be accompanied. 

All day Badgemaking
Your badge – your design – wear it out. Make a badge to wear and keep

Across the day – Live mural painting demo with Joe Quilter
Watch and chat with a pro in action as Joe paints a permanent mural in Ward Lane.

12pm – Waste to Art Wearables with Creative Space 
Adorn yourself with earrings, brooches, bracelets and more with colourful upcycled materials. Perfect to spice up your laneway party look. 

1pm Weaving with Pam Luke
Join the weaving circle, learn traditional techniques and make something cool.

2pm – Bling My things
A buffet of paints and stick-ons to bling your stuff. Phone cases, headphones, devices – you bring it and we’ll help you bling it. 

  

3pm – Drawing with Lilly Cummins 
If you could imagine yourself as an otherworldly creature, what would you look like? Would you have wings? Six legs? Bunny ears? Join artist Lily Cummins and explore the endless possibilities through drawing and marking.

 

 

4pm – Bush Tucker with Aaron Chatfield of Dreamtime Connections Discover the edible and medicinal uses of native plants that have been used by Aboriginal People for thousands of years. Also learn about traditional tools followed by some bushtucker snacks and native bush tea. Yum!

Across the day visit our friends from the Stress and Trauma Clinic who have heaps of cool info to help keep your mental health in great shape. You can’t miss their space as it will also be where another mural will be painted live during the day.

The FUN‘daMENTAL Art Space is proudly funded by the NSW State Government, Depatment of Communities and Justice in association with Wingecaribee Shire Council through the FUNDAMENTAL program.

PAINT THE TOWN is the brainchild of Wollondilly based street artist Joe Quilter, whose murals can be seen in Picton and around the country. Jo’s style consists of graffiti, calligraphy, stylised realism and abstract imagery. Joe will work behind the scenes to make PAINT THE TOWN a reality and out the front as an artists creating new works.
