Family Fun Open Day at Gunning Railway Station – Saturday May 28

Check out all the fabulous arts activities and entertainment from Gunning Station Open Day!

Transport for NSW and Southern Tablelands Arts hosted a family open day, inviting the public to explore the newly restored Gunning Train Station! Transport for NSW lead the project to restore the historic Railway Station building in Gunning.  The Open day was the first opportunity for the public to explore the major restoration as it nears completion.

Get ready for Connect@Gunning Station opening in early 2023!

 Open Day Program

  • 11am – 11.30am. Opening Ceremony.  The ceremony will include a presentation by iconic Australian actor Max Cullen, and a performance by the Gunning Public School Choir.  The ceremony will take place rain or shine and will move to under the platform awning in case of inclement weather.
  • 11.30am – 2pm.  Restored Gunning Station buildings will be open for inspection.  Historic displays in the Station rooms will provide further information on the history of the Station.
  • 11.30am – 2pm.  Transport for NSW staff and members of the Gunning and District Historical Society are keen to hear your recollections and stories about Gunning Station, so that a permanent display bringing the Station’s history can be created. Come and share your stories.
  • 11.30am – 2pm.  Local musical groups San Trails and Woodland Wanderers will entertain the public with live music.
  • 11.30am – 2pm First Nations Weaving with Culture on the Move – a drop-in continuous workshop on indigenous weaving techniques in one of the Station building rooms
  • 11.30am – 2pm Badge making with Southern Tablelands Arts in one of the Station rooms.  Decorate and create your own badge to take with you.
  • 11.30am – 2pm Joe Quilter will demonstrate street art by creating a banner for Southern Tablelands Arts.
  • 11.30am – 2pm.  Once the Gunning Station restoration is completed the Gunning Station buildings will be operated as Connect @ Gunning Station, an arts and cultural facility managed by Southern Tablelands Arts. Please come and share your ideas with Southern Tablelands Arts on what you would like the centre to become
