Stories from the Studio: Gary Christian

Being invited to visit an Artist in their studio is a real honour and STA are delighted to take you along for our first visit the see Gary Christian at his Moss Vale home studio on the eve of his latest show at White Wall Art Projects.
As soon as the car pulls up it’s clear this is the home of a prolific artist at the height of his powers. Totemic sculptures soar into the air on the front verge before stepping into a garden where the lush native vegetation is overshadowed by the numerous sculptural installations. It’s an inspirational place of art and storytelling.
During the visit Gary was reviewing a new body of work for his exhibition at White Wall Art Projects in Berrima. A glorious exploration of Homer’s Odyssey that has manifested in works on paper, canvas and through sculpture. The work sings with colour, bright yellow and marine blue that draws you into tales of sirens and endless days at sea.
If you’re looking to treat yourself with an Art experience, STA can recommend a trip into Berrima to see Life’s Odyssey: Painting and Sculpture, solo exhibition by Gary Christian.

Life’s Odyssey: Painting and Sculpture
A solo exhibition by Gary Christian at Whitewall Art Projects

Opening Reception: May 3, 4–6PM     Artist Talk: May 10, 3–4PM
Whitewall Art Projects Gallery – 3/13 Old Hume Hwy, Berrima
Inspired by the mythic voyage of Odysseus, Life’s Odyssey explores the emotional turbulence, transformation, and resilience of the human spirit. Through painting and sculpture, Gary Christian reflects on the storms we weather—loss, grief, healing—and the quiet beauty we find in their wake. Each work speaks to the unknown: trouble on the high seas, the call of the sirens, and sailing through the fog of life’s difficulties.
Treat yourself to a  journey through art, myth, and meaning with works on view from May 3rd – 18th at White Wall Art Projects Gallery and online.
