Stories from the Studio: Cayla Pothan

STA spent the afternoon at Tootsie Gallery Cafe. The creation of a ‘bigger picture’ lifestyle by mosaic artist of twenty years, mural creator, and qualified mentor Cayla Pothan.

Tootsie gallery provides an opportunity to connect with others as well as the creative part inside of you, feel inspired to start creating, or continue on your creative journey through workshops, classes as well as a visual experience.

Located in a historic art deco garage in the beautiful Yass Valley that has been renovated and transformed into a creative way of life. The building has and continues to evolve into a larger-than-life work of art.

I am running as a candidate in the upcoming Yass Valley Council Elections. I believe I bring a strong track record of dedication and strength to the region through my business as well as community activities.

In my arts practice i recently completed the enormous mosaic at the Lieder Theatre in Goulburn. Its now installed to welcome patrons and a beautiful addition to another gorgeous deco building.

I have created, with the help of many people an tourist attraction through the mosaic walls out the back of Tootsie. The mosaic garden has works from people all over the world. I have people coming to Yass from far and wide who have contributed or heard about the walls and want to see the mosaics in person.

Visit the colourful space, enjoy the café, try one of 24 flavours of delicious gelato, be inspired by the outdoor mosaic garden, participate in a workshop, and learn more about yourself through creative expression.

The Tootsie motto is ‘Connect Inspire Grow’ which includes personal programs to grow through creativity, knowledge and understanding of self. Individual mentoring sessions are available by appointment and delivered both at Tootsie and online.

Cayla is holding another Grief and Loss Arts workshop and a Mosaic Workshop in February 2022.
