STA visited Carl Valerius at his studio at Murrumburrah in Hilltops. Carl Valerius is a nationally recognised sculptor, working primarily with bronze, stone, clay and wax. His skills have been refined since he began his working life as a stonemason. His work is installed at the National Museum of Australia, Darling Harbour and along tourist routes throughout New South Wales. Carl can balance two tonne boulders while designing balancing rock displays right through to etching subtle facial expressions on miniature clay or wax figures. He has been an invited guest lecturer at the University of New South Wales.
