Stories from the Studio: Alex & Jackson Simpson
Some treasure can’t be seen or even held but it sure can be heard and such was the case this week when STA visited Alexandra and Jackson Simpson at their Tahmoor home.
Alex plays contemporary cello accompanied by Jackson on guitar. The duo blends heartfelt melodies, rich harmonies, and a unique mix of acoustic and electronic textures.
Alex and Jackson are warm and welcoming as they talk about their musical partnership. It’s a genuine pleasure to watch them so emersed in creating music together.
The sound is a contemporary blend of traditional skills, live improvisation and creative arrangement. It’s warm, honest, and deeply connected.
Alex has performed across the nation at festivals such as Dark Mofo, Falls Festival, and the National Folk Festival.
Alex offers lessons in cello, piano, guitar, double bass, electric bass and music production at River Road Creative academy in Tahmoor. She blends classical and contemporary styles, supports students of all ages and abilities, and creates inclusive, student-centred spaces — especially for neurodivergent learners.
