Archibald Prize winner Keith Looby won major prizes at home and abroad. Yet today his name and works are rarely seen. With sumptuous cinematography, candid interviews and a striking original score, ‘Looby’ uncovers the life and work of an artist we need to remember. Following rave reviews at the 2019 Melbourne Documentary Film Festival and its Sydney premiere at the National Art School in February 2020, ‘Looby’ is screening across Australia to mark 100 years of the Archibald Prize.

Goulburn Regional Art Gallery holds a work from the artist in it’s permanent collection, donated by artist Robyn Wallace-Crabb titled ‘Ourselves– the blessed half made’ 1968.  The painting is an early, large figurative work of Looby’s that portrays surrealist imagery with figures and landscape. The work was last on display in ‘Goulburn Bustle’ 2019 and will be shown in the Collection Store alongside the film screening. Bookings are essential and can be made via Eventbrite or direct with the Gallery.
