Stories from the Studio: Sykes Campbell

STA recently caught up with Robyn Sykes and Peter Campbell ahead of their appearances at the Irish & Celtic Music Festival in Yass, where audiences will have the chance to enjoy them both individually and as a duo. One thing is clear… these are performances you do not want to miss.
Robyn Sykes brings an impressive list of credentials to the stage. Award-winning performer? Tick. Prize-winning poet? Tick. Living Legend of Australian Poetry? Tick. Poems published across Australia, overseas and online? Tick again. But Robyn is far more than a list of accolades. Her warmth, wit and powerful storytelling have won audiences everywhere, making every performance a memorable journey through words, ideas and emotion.
Singer-songwriter, performer and activist Peter Campbell also joins the lineup, Peter’s music is as thought-provoking as it is uplifting. Blending poetic lyrics with rich melodies, Peter explores what it means to be human, tackling life’s joys and challenges with honesty and heart.
Whether performing solo or sharing the stage together, Robyn and Peter each bring something special to the festival. Expect an unforgettable musical ride featuring driving crowd singalongs, stunning finger-style six-string guitar, feisty 12-string performances, tender banjo tunes and moments of spellbinding a cappella. Peter’s magnetic stage presence draws audiences in, while his songs remind us of music’s unique power to connect, heal and inspire. Together, Robyn and Peter promise a performance full of humour, heart, poetry and song. If they’re on your festival list, make sure they’re near the top.

Held in the heart of Yass, the Irish and Celtic Music Festival celebrates the town’s deep Irish and Celtic roots through a lively programme of music, dance, poetry and storytelling. Since its beginnings in 2018, the festival has grown into a highlight of the regional cultural calendar, attracting visitors and performers who value authenticity, connection and plenty of good craic. In recognition of its quality and impact, the festival was proudly awarded ‘Best Event in the Yass Valley’ in 2025.
