STA ZINE-O-RAMA – Vending Machine

Welcome to the magical world of ZINE-O-RAMA – where our fantastic zine vending machine is your local place to distribute and collect your next zine. Zine-O-Rama, is all about showcasing and supporting independent creators across the STA region. Zine-O-Rama will move to a new local library somewhere in the STA Region every six months. It’s sure to create a vibrant, accessible hub for community creativity and self-publishing.

Zine-O-Rama is a repurposed vending machine that dispenses self-published mini-booklets, comics, art prints, poetry collections, and other small-format creative works – it’s snacks for the soul. 

HOW ZINE-O-RAMA WORKS
Supporting Local Creators, Zine-O-Rama stocks an ever-changing collection of zines and small-format publications created by artists and writers from the STA Region and beyond. Contributors have the opportunity to share their stories, artwork, photography, poetry, and ideas with a wider audience. 

WHAT ARE ZINES?
Nothing short of a DIY publishing system for stories, images, collages, drawing, blogs, cartoons ANYTHING. Zines can contain whatever an artist has to say – that’s why they are always surprising. Zines are a global THING with a rich history as a grassroots publishing platform all over the world. They are often handmade, independently produced, and focused on personal stories, niche interests, local culture, art, music, social issues, and creative experimentation. ZINES are always copyright free.
Think authentic and accessible. Anyone can make a zine, and everyone has a story to tell.

HIGH IMPACT
STA Zine-O-Rama is more than a vending machine, it is a platform for community participation and creative engagement. Alongside the machine, Southern Tablelands Arts can facilitate workshops, artist talks, zine-making activities and community publishing projects that encourage people of all ages to explore creativity and storytelling.
The Zine-O-Rama can create an ongoing presence for local independent publishing, celebrate regional creativity, and foster a culture of making, reading and sharing. Perfect for Libraries where people have been sharing stories for a very long time. 

WANT IN?
Zine-O-Rama will be delivered by STA staff and installed in a place as best suits each venue. The machine will stay in each venue for approximatley six months and comes complete with a free ZINE making workshop hosted by experienced zine makers and artists facilitors to fill the machine with local content.

Become a much-loved feature of the library venues across the STA region as it travels around making it’s mark. It’s a focus where people can discover something unexpected, support local creators, and take home a small piece of the region’s creative culture. Fun, affordable and endlessly surprising, Zine-O-Rama brings together art, literature and community in a way that invites everyone to participate.

STA ZINE MAKING WORKSHOPS
Get creative with Southern Tablelands Arts at a Free “Zine Making Workshop”. You get to make your own ZINE using text, collage, drawing, and more to create a personalised work of art and then make copies for the new STA Zine-O-Rama vending machine.
