Southern Tablelands Arts is delighted to announce local Gunning artist Larissa Fae as the first official Artist in Residence at Connect@Gunning Station.
Larissa’s Connected Artist in Residence runs from Friday 5 March to Friday 20 March, coinciding with the PAINT THE TOWN legacy exhibition. One of the gallery spaces at the station, the Ladies Gallery, will be set up as a working studio where Larissa will create new work over the two-week period.
Larissa completed her Fine Art degree at RMIT University in Melbourne, with earlier studies at the Canberra School of Art. She worked for several years as a full-time professional muralist in Melbourne’s CBD and travelled widely to paint large-scale murals across Australia. Most recently, she created one of the most celebrated PAINT THE TOWN murals on the side of Marulan Hall. The Paint The Town project was delivered by Southern Tablelands Arts, and is now an evolving digital map and database that celebrates the public murals of the Southern Highlands and Southern Tablelands. Alongside her public art practice, Larissa has sold paintings for over ten years, with her work held in private collections across Australia and internationally.
After eight years living and working in Melbourne, Larissa moved to Gunning, where her practice is now shaped by the local landscape, daily walks in nature, and strong community connections. Her work aims to uplift and to celebrate the resilience and beauty of the natural world.
Reflecting on the residency, Larissa says it offers a chance to reconnect with her art and to focus deeply on Gunning as a place of inspiration.
Connect@Gunning Station will be open to the public from 10am–3pm on Fridays 6, 13 and 20 March, and visitors are warmly invited to drop in, say hello, and see Larissa at work. A morning tea celebration will be held on Friday 20 March, inviting the community to view the work created during the residency.
