Mark your calendars for Winepress 18th November Eden Road Wines, Murrumbateman
Southern Tablelands Arts is excited to be running the fourth annual Winepress writer’s event in the Yass Valley. Winepress will highlight women as artists and writers at Eden Road Wines in Murrumbateman on the 18th of November at 2pm.
Into its fourth year Winepress is a themed talk with writers from the region about their work and writing processes. Southern Tablelands Arts Executive Director Susan Conroy says “Winepress is an important event for both readers and writers but has in the past been an inspiration point for aspiring writers as an opportunity to meet with successful local and regional authors”. She said she is delighted to have secured two amazing authors Sarah Rice and Kim Mahood to for the event. Join us for an afternoon of discussions led by MC Evol McLeod OAM with wine tastings, writing, art and cheese at Eden Road Wines Murrumbateman.
Kim Mahood is an artist and writer whose work explores the relationships between Aboriginal and settler Australians, between people, art and country in the Tanami Desert, a region to which she has a long connection. Kim’s work has been shortlisted for multiple awards and she will speak primarily about her latest work Position Doubtful.
Sarah Rice is a Canberra-based poet/writer, visual artist and theorist. Her first full-length poetry collection Fingertip of the Tongue was recently released with UWAP. Sarah also exhibits visual work inspired by her poetry, as well as writing poetry in collaboration with other visual artists, including ceramicists, print-makers, photographers, and letter-press artists.
