Celebrating makers and artisans of the Southern Highlands
Opens: Wed 20th Feb and running through to August. 10-4pm Wed to Sun and every day through school holidays.
All over the world people are celebrating makers. More of us are valuing the quality, individuality and sustainability of that which is lovingly made by hand and the Southern Highlands is home to some of the most fascinating and authentic makers in Australia.
The Story Centre in HD, Berrima District Museum’s new digital gallery inaugural exhibition, A Butcher, A Baker, A Bunch of Makers, will pay tribute a those talented makers who call the Southern Highlands home. The exhibition will bring to life the stories of some of our most skilled Highland artisans captured by Ashley Mackevicius’ stunning imagery on the gallery’s 10 new state-of-the-art 4K HD screens. Showcasing the very best of local food, wine, art and design, this exhibition celebrates some of the gifted makers who humbly transform the ordinary into the extraordinary.
Sculptor David Ball, ceramicist Tania Rollond, painter James King, Sturt Gallery and Studios, leather worker Trevor Jones, weavers Brooke Munro and Natalie Miller, metal artist Heidi McGeogh, Maugers Meats, Moonacres Bakery, Eling Forest Winery and a bunch of other talented local makers will be proudly part of the exhibition.
