Waste to Art 4 Kids creative workshops
Southern Tablelands Arts is committed to providing professional opportunities for artists and creatives living within the STA territory.
We are seeking expressions of interest from suitability experienced artist/ facilitators living in the Wollondilly area to facilitate creative making workshops for children as part of the Waste to Art project.
Waste to Art is instigated by Wollondilly Council and the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) with support from Southern Tablelands Arts. The project aims to increase awareness around waste in terms of reuse, recycle and repurpose with an emphasis on creative making.
Waste to Art 4 Kids workshops are designed to work in conjunction with the adult workshop stream and Waste to Art Exhibition and Competition. The children’s workshops are planned for delivery in Picton on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 August and will be targeted to attract children 8-12 years of age. In line with current social distancing restrictions the workshops will each have a maximum of 10 participants. Participants will be encouraged to enter their work into the Waste to Art Exhibition and Competition.
We are looking for an Artist Facilitator with experience working with children and who is confident using up-cycled materials as part of their practice to run two 3 hour creative making workshops for children (one workshop repeated).
The artist facilitator will be paid in accordance in NAVA guidelines at $550 per workshop (inclusive of set up and pack down time) as well as 9.5% superannuation with an additional allowance for travel, meals and incidentals.
The workshops have an additional materials budget that can be spent as negotiated with the artist facilitator. All administration for the workshops will be provided by STA.
Expressions will be ranked through the following criteria;
- Experience working with children
- Understanding of the use of up-cycled or recycled materials for artwork creation.
The successful Artist Facilitator will need to provide a copy of;
- A current working with vulnerable people registration
- A current certificate of currency for public liability insurance
- Or a willingness to achieve these prior to workshop delivery. STA can provide general advice regarding insurance options and WWVP registration – the cost of both are tax deductible.

Waste to Art Exhibition and Competition
An opportunity for children and youth from the Southern Tablelands Arts and Macarthur Regions to exhibit work that explores waste reduction messages. The exhibition also includes categories for emerging and established adult artists.
