Lambing Flat Chinese Festival

For the next two weeks Southern Tablelands Arts will be in Hilltops making lanterns for the Lambing Flat Chinese Festival on the 24th of March.  Over 1000 Lanterns will be decorated, and more on the day.  We have been focussing on the Chinese year of the Dog. Earth Hour Wingecarribee

To celebrate Earth Hour, Council are inviting the community to Vessels of Change a special FREE event being held in partnership with the Southern Highlands Botanic Gardens and local artists Heidi McGeoch and Sam Larwill, on Saturday 24 March from 6 until 9:30pm.

Vessels of Change purpose is to encourage the community to come together toward a sustainable future by engaging in all things renewable energy.

The event will see the launch of Vessels of Change art installation designed by both Heidi and Sam; a glowing solar powered city streetscape that you can walk around, as well as a fun activity for kids, who will get to make their own solar powered lantern to take home. More…

Upper Lachlan Shire Council Mayor Brian McCormack OAM said the Competition is open to all primary and high school aged children in the Shire.

“The Competition is an opportunity for the Shire’s youth to use their creativity to capture an image that represents ‘my place’ and for the rest of the community to see the Shire through the lens of our young people,” Cr McCormack said.

Goulburn Reader Writer Festival

The Second Reader Writer Festival in Goulburn on the 24th March is aimed at those who love to read, write – and this year, those who love to eat!  Our theme is ‘Feed Your Mind’, so we’re looking at everything food, eating and cooking. There is a great program of author talks, workshops, activities and live performances. Highlights of the program include special guest Ben O’Donoghue, Hazel Edwards and Janelle Bloom.
