Caroline Chisholm, United Cities, illuminARTe and Waste Free for Me

This week we caught up with Rudy Kistler who has just completed the finishing touches on his wonderful mural in the Caroline Chisholm Courtyard at Goulburn.Art Regional Gallery. The Mural completed over three weeks is a tribute to Caroline Chisholm and was created by Rudy with some initial help from local young people who have an interest in public art.  We are loving the new look of the courtyard.

We spent the week in a glow after IlluminARTe Wollondilly on the 29th of April.  We had over 1000 people attend the new pop up exhibition and more than 100 people in our amazing River of Light lantern parade.  The parade was led by the beautiful River Song by the Sydney World Music Chamber Orchestra and and accompanied by Picton Strings. Our Neural Knitworks Display attracted a lot of participants and we had some very interesting moments in with the BrainLight exhibition. The crowd was absolutely packed around the Lieder Theatre’s Fire Show event and The WAG exhibition and makers markets was shoulder to shoulder all night. Picton was alight with the projections created by local artists and students. Another fantastic festival.  See you next year!

Susan is away for the United Cities and Local Government Conference in South Korea and will be absent from 8 – 26 may and will return to work on Monday 29 May. If you want to follow her adventures she has taken over the twitter account and is sharing the journey which started in Melbourne over the weekend with more amazing street art and some truly inspiring exhibitions. We are gearing up for the next round of Waste Free for Me workshops with two in Picton this Friday and Saturday. Artists Garry Jones (screen printing) and Camille Kersley (lino cut) will lead us through creating our own fabrics to make bees wax food wraps to help us reduce food waste in our homes.
